At YMCA Chiltern Group, we’re looking for a talented Creative Content & Design Producer to bring our work to life through engaging design, photography, video and written content. If you are someone who can create clear and compelling content and combine words, images and film to tell meaningful stories then we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

This is a varied, hands-on creative role within YMCA Chiltern Group’s marketing team. You’ll produce multimedia content that helps us communicate clearly and consistently. Your work could include social media graphics, campaign materials, photography, short-form video, presentations, publications, adverts and reusable branded templates. Working across our services and activities, you’ll help capture and share the stories of our beneficiaries, colleagues and communities in a sensitive, respectful and engaging way. This is an opportunity to develop your creative skills within a supportive, purpose-led organisation. What you’ll be doing You will produce high-quality creative materials from briefs, including social media content, posters, leaflets, presentations, adverts, publications and campaign assets. You’ll plan and capture straightforward photography and video at our services, events and activities. You’ll edit photographs, reels and video clips for use across social media, websites, presentations and communications. A key part of the role will be creating and updating practical branded templates that colleagues can use for everyday communications. You’ll also adapt approved designs into different sizes, formats and local versions while keeping the content clear, accessible and consistent.

 What we are looking for

We’re looking for a creative, curious and enthusiastic person who enjoys bringing ideas and stories to life. You’ll have practical experience of producing visual or multimedia content, gained through employment, education, volunteering, freelance work or your own creative projects, alongside a portfolio that shows us what you can do. You’ll have a good eye for layout, typography, colour and composition, as well as the confidence to create engaging content using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut. You’ll also be comfortable capturing and editing photography and video, and using clear, concise words to support your visuals. You don’t need to know everything from day one. What matters is that you are keen to learn, open to feedback and excited about developing your skills.

Why this role?

This is a brilliant opportunity to build a varied creative portfolio while using your skills to support a charity with a powerful purpose. You’ll work across a wide range of projects and services, develop your experience across different creative formats and receive direction and support from experienced marketing and creative colleagues. Most importantly, you’ll help us share real stories, celebrate our communities and show the difference YMCA Chiltern Group makes every day. One YMCA and its subsidiaries, the Early Childhood Partnership (ECP) and Signpost are on an exciting journey to double our impact by 2025. We are over half way through an exciting new strategy launched in the first hour of the new decade, via email where all staff and volunteers were invited to put themselves forward to apply and attend an intensive, three-day Kickstarter Event.

By the end of these three days, there was a brilliantly multi-faceted set of themes and ideas, which formed the starting point for the rest of the Mission 25 process to build on. The aim of Mission 25 is to give every staff member and volunteer the opportunity to play their part in shaping the strategy to do “more and better, together” so that we double our impact by 2025. We deliver a vast array of services across Herts, Beds and Bucks that reach over 135,000 individuals annually.

These include:

  • Provision of over 700 units of accommodation for homeless people
  • Move on accommodation for individuals moving onto independent living
  • Housing and practical/emotional support for young asylum seekers
  • Community HUBs hosting a range of activities and meeting space hire
  • Childcare provision in Hertfordshire
  • Family support through a network of children’s and family centres covering Hertfordshire and Bedford
  • Therapeutic and non-therapeutic support for male and female victims of domestic abuse and their children
  • Independent sexual violence services across Bedfordshire, Luton and Hertfordshire
  • Domestic abuse perpetrator reform programmes across Bedfordshire
  • Youth services offering emotional wellbeing support and youth club opportunities for 11-19 year olds alongside our National Airplay programme funded by the RAF Benevolent Fund
  • A community gym where everyone can enjoy the benefits of physical exercise Our values remain at the forefront of how we operate as a charity, and it is important to us that all staff and volunteers can fully buy in to our ethos.

YMCA is a global movement that empowers communities and young people to build a just, sustainable, equitable and inclusive world. Founded over 160 years ago, the movement gave birth to basketball, volleyball, Father’s Day, and inner city hostels, and has grown to be the world’s largest youth organisation with over 50 million members in 121 countries.

"One YMCA" represents the movement in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, and is now one of the largest YMCA’s in Europe. Our focus is supporting vulnerable individuals and families to develop the skills and confidence they need to progress towards independence, so they are able to live their life to the full. Our approach is holistic and so we offer a wide range of services that include Housing, Community, Family Support, Youth and Children’s Activity Programmes, Early Years Education, and Specialist Therapeutic Support.

In the last five years, we have trebled our income to £40m, and more than doubled our colleague numbers to over 750. We are ambitious to continue to serve even more people and plan to grow our impact across our four counties, whilst also playing a growing role globally in what 14,000 other YMCAs are seeking to achieve globally through our shared 2030 Vision.
