 Night Residential Practitioner

Salary: £27,999.72 - £29,428.49 per annum

Hours of Week: 40

Contract Type: Permanent

Requirements:

  • An understanding of the developmental needs (physical, emotional, intellectual, social and educational) of young people. 
  • Child Protection issues and procedures. Social Care Services available to young people and their families
  • Working within a team & Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and understanding.
  • Ability to motivate self and others to meet time and performance goals.
  • Ability to deal with emotional stress.
  • Ability to be flexible.
  • Good interpersonal skills – relate well to others (young people and staff at all levels).

 

As a Night Residential Practitioner, you will:

 

  • Provide overnight supervision, care and support to children and young people aged 8-18 within an Ofsted-registered children's home.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people at all times.
  • Conduct regular welfare, health and safety, and security checks throughout the night.
  • Respond appropriately to children's emotional, behavioural and practical support needs during waking night shifts.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and handovers in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the implementation of care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals to achieve positive outcomes for young people.
  • Complete cleaning and household tasks to ensure the home remains clean, safe and welcoming.
  • Support young people with developing independence, routines and life skills.
  • Occasionally support and supervise children and young people outside of the home during overnight periods, where required by their care plans or service needs.
  • Attend mandatory training, team meetings, supervisions and appraisals, including daytime attendance where required.
  • Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, medication and company policies and procedures.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the Home Manager or Deputy Manager.

What We're Looking For

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Flexibility to work waking nights, weekends and bank holidays.
  • A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards this) is desirable.


Please note: This role involves waking night duties, household cleaning responsibilities and occasional attendance at training and meetings during daytime hours. All appointments are subject to an Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Binley Woods is a spacious detached house located in a peaceful village, the home offers five bedrooms, which are decorated and furnished to suit individual needs, with communal areas and extensive lawned gardens.

We support young people from ages 16 to 25, we mainly support individuals with mental health issues. our aim is to provide a level of care for each young adult to assist them in living their lives to their full potential.
