Location Eastleigh
Reason for vacancy Permanent

This is a Part Time, Permanent vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

Use your clinical expertise to make work safer and healthier for colleagues across Abri. As part of our newly established in-house Health Surveillance Team, you’ll help shape a trusted, high-quality service from the outset—combining hands-on clinical practice with the opportunity to influence how we work and make a visible difference every day.

What you’ll do

You’ll deliver and oversee baseline and periodic health surveillance, including audiometry, spirometry, respiratory questionnaires, hand-arm vibration (HAVS) and skin surveillance. With informed consent at the heart of your practice, you’ll explain assessments and outcomes clearly, interpret results within agreed protocols, and act promptly when further testing, workplace adjustments, referral or urgent escalation are needed.

You’ll coach and support Occupational Health Surveillance Technicians and Coordinators, review and sign off their practice, and deputise for the Occupational Health Surveillance Nurse Manager when required. By partnering with Occupational Health, Health & Safety, HR and operational teams, you’ll help ensure surveillance is accessible, effective and aligned with workplace risks.

You’ll maintain accurate, confidential occupational health records; produce agreed and statutory reports; and contribute to audit, quality assurance and continuous improvement. You’ll keep equipment, protocols and professional knowledge up to date, practise in line with the NMC Code and relevant guidance, and handle information sensitively.

You’ll help create an inclusive service where every colleague is treated fairly and with dignity, making reasonable adjustments so people can access the support they need.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and hold an Occupational Health qualification such as a Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health Nursing. You’ll have experience in occupational health or statutory health surveillance, including clinical assessment or screening, and the confidence to make sound, evidence-based decisions.

You’ll be competent in audiometry, spirometry, HAVS Tier 1 and 2, and skin surveillance, with sound knowledge of confidentiality, informed consent, information governance and relevant legislation. You’ll be comfortable working autonomously, managing recall schedules and maintaining accurate records using clinical systems and Microsoft Office.

You’ll communicate health information clearly and appropriately, and demonstrate a commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical audit and continuing professional development. Experience of interpreting risk assessments, connecting surveillance with workplace hazards, and applying HSE guidance or occupational health standards would be an advantage.

Where you’ll work

You’ll work from our Eastleigh office for at least two days each week, with the other two days based at another Abri office or at home. A full driving licence and access to your own transport are essential, as you’ll travel across our organisation’s portfolio; occasional early starts and overnight stays may be required to support colleagues’ working hours.

Ready to help build a service with lasting impact? Bring your expertise to Abri. We value different perspectives and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds—if the role excites you and you meet the essential criteria, we’d love to hear from you.

We review and interview suitable candidates as applications come in, so don’t delay - apply today and help us build thriving communities together.

Abri is a large housing provider who own and manage more than 58,000 homes and various community assets, serving around 113,000 customers across the South of England.

We believe everyone has the right to a good quality safe, warm and sustainable home in a community where they can belong, grow and thrive. What does that look like in real terms?

We’re investing £689m over the next ten years in our existing homes to improve building safety and make them more energy efficient.

  • We’re delivering 10,000 homes by 2030, ensuring affordable housing is built where it’s needed most
  • We’re investing in our communities, to address local issues and create opportunities for everyone

As we grow, we’re re-establishing our strong local presence to provide a really good service. Abri has adopted a regional approach to service delivery, with our operating areas split into three, each with their local governance and leadership. This will ensure our colleagues are more visible, accountable and better connected to our customers and local communities to meet their diverse needs.
