We are looking for an experienced, passionate and values-led Service Manager to lead our complex care service and ensure the people we support receive safe, high-quality and truly person-centred care.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced care professional who can provide strong leadership, inspire a team and ensure excellent standards across all aspects of service delivery. You will play a key role in creating a positive culture where people are supported to live fulfilling, meaningful and independent lives, while ensuring their individual needs, rights, choices and aspirations remain at the heart of everything we do.

About the role

As Service Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of the service, leading a dedicated team to provide outstanding support to individuals with disabilities, autism and/or complex health and care needs.

You will ensure the service operates safely, effectively and in line with regulatory and contractual requirements, while continually looking for opportunities to improve the quality of support and outcomes for the people we support.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, motivating and developing a team to deliver high-quality, person-centred complex care and support.
  • Ensuring support plans, risk assessments and care documentation are accurate, current and followed consistently.
  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, quality, health and safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Managing staffing levels, rotas and resources to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
  • Supporting the recruitment, induction, supervision, training, development and retention of colleagues.
  • Monitoring service performance through KPIs, audits, feedback and management information.
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring learning from incidents, complaints, safeguarding concerns and feedback is embedded into practice.
  • Working collaboratively with families, health professionals, commissioners and other key stakeholders.
  • Managing service budgets effectively and ensuring commissioned hours and resources are used appropriately.
  • Promoting active support, independence, inclusion, choice and community involvement.
  • Supporting teams to adopt innovative approaches and make effective use of technology and digital systems.
  • Providing visible and supportive leadership, creating a culture of trust, accountability, learning and continuous improvement.

About you

You will be an experienced manager within health or social care, with a strong understanding of the needs of people receiving complex care and support. You will be confident leading teams, managing challenging situations and making effective decisions in a busy and evolving environment.

You will ideally have:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, with a willingness to work towards a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care.
  • Previous management experience within health, social care or a complex care environment.
  • Experience supporting people with disabilities, autism and/or complex health needs.
  • A good understanding of social care legislation, regulatory frameworks and safeguarding requirements.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work with families, professionals and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise and make decisions under pressure.
  • Experience managing staffing resources, rotas and budgets.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, Excel and digital systems; experience with data analysis or Power BI would be advantageous.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to respond positively to changing service needs.

Our values

Above all, we are looking for someone who shares our commitment to putting the person at the centre of everything we do.

You will lead with compassion, integrity and emotional intelligence, ensuring people are treated with dignity and respect. You will value and develop your colleagues, encourage open and honest conversations, listen and learn from feedback, and create an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

Working with us

This is a 24/7 complex care service, so flexibility is essential. The role will involve working one weekend in four, nights as appropriate and providing out-of-hours on-call support as required.

If you are an experienced care leader who is passionate about delivering exceptional outcomes for people with complex needs, developing great teams and driving positive change, we would love to hear from you.
