Electrician

Salary up to £43,000 per annum depending on experience + van
Working hours per week 40
Location Southampton
Reason for vacancy Permanent

This is a Full Time, Permanent vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

At Abri, we're committed to creating safe, comfortable homes that our customers are proud to live in. Our Voids Electricians play a vital role in making that happen by ensuring empty homes are ready for new customers to move into with confidence.

Every property is different, which means no two days are the same. From carrying out inspections and testing to completing repairs, upgrades and installations, you'll help transform vacant properties into safe, compliant, and welcoming homes.

Your New Role

We're looking for a proactive, motivated Electrician to join our Voids Team. You'll be supporting customers across the South region, covering Southampton, Bournemouth, Poole, Salisbury and the surrounding areas. From time to time, you may also be required to provide support in and around Guildford, Portsmouth and neighbouring areas, helping us to meet the needs of our customers across a wider geographical region.

Working across our vacant properties, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical work that helps get homes ready for re-let as quickly and safely as possible. You'll carry out electrical testing, fault finding, repairs and installations, ensuring every property meets the standards our customers deserve.

You'll work closely with colleagues across our teams, taking pride in delivering work right first time and helping us minimise void turnaround times without compromising on quality or safety.

As an ambassador for Abri, you'll build positive relationships with colleagues, contractors and customers, demonstrating professionalism and a commitment to excellent service at every stage.

What You'll Need

  • NVQ/AM2 (or equivalent)
  • 2391 Testing & Inspection qualification (or equivalent)
  • Current 18th Edition qualification
  • Full UK driving licence

Experience working within social housing, void properties or NICEIC certification would be advantageous, but what's most important is your commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and delivering great outcomes for our customers.

What We'll Give You

We'll make sure you have everything you need to do your best work, including a fully equipped van, fuel card, tablet, mobile phone and PPE.

From day one, you'll also have access to a fantastic range of benefits, including:

  • 28 days holiday plus the opportunity to buy and sell leave
  • Generous pension scheme with contributions of up to 10%
  • Life assurance of five times your annual salary
  • Generous parental and family leave policies
  • Health and wellbeing support packages

Why Join Us?

At Abri, you'll be part of a supportive team that takes pride in the difference they make every day. Your work will directly help new customers start the next chapter in a home that's safe, ready and waiting for them.

If you're someone who enjoys seeing the tangible results of your work, takes pride in high standards, and wants to make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.

We review applications as they come in and may close the advert early, so please apply as soon as possible to avoid missing out.

Abri is a large housing provider who own and manage more than 58,000 homes and various community assets, serving around 113,000 customers across the South of England.

We believe everyone has the right to a good quality safe, warm and sustainable home in a community where they can belong, grow and thrive. What does that look like in real terms?

We’re investing £689m over the next ten years in our existing homes to improve building safety and make them more energy efficient.

  • We’re delivering 10,000 homes by 2030, ensuring affordable housing is built where it’s needed most
  • We’re investing in our communities, to address local issues and create opportunities for everyone

As we grow, we’re re-establishing our strong local presence to provide a really good service. Abri has adopted a regional approach to service delivery, with our operating areas split into three, each with their local governance and leadership. This will ensure our colleagues are more visible, accountable and better connected to our customers and local communities to meet their diverse needs.

Our colleagues embrace these every day. We also expect our colleagues to share Abri’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults.

If you share our values and want to make a real difference in the world, you’re on to a winner and we’d love to hear from you!

We’re committed to promoting an inclusive culture. We welcome and respect the individual differences, life experiences and knowledge that all our colleagues bring into the workplace, and we value their contribution to our amazing company. Everyone is different, everyone is unique.

We already have a number of carefully selected agency partners who know our business well and who support our in-house recruitment team during exceptionally busy periods. We’re not looking to add to our preferred supplier list right now but if you’d like to be considered at a future date please don’t hesitate to register on our procurement portal.
