Shape the future of Scottish Rugby through expert legal leadership.

We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Head of Legal to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide trusted legal advice across a high-profile sporting organisation, helping to protect and enable the business while supporting the delivery of our strategic ambitions.

Working closely with senior leaders, directors and external partners, you'll play a key role in guiding major commercial decisions, strengthening governance, and building strong relationships across the organisation. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and where your expertise will have a direct impact on the success of Scottish Rugby.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Leading and developing the Legal team, ensuring high-quality support across the organisation and effective management of priorities and stakeholder expectations.
  • Providing expert legal advice on a broad range of matters and leading the negotiation and drafting of key commercial agreements, including sponsorship, media, broadcasting and service contracts.
  • Supporting effective governance by advising Boards and Committees, providing company secretarial support, and ensuring robust governance processes are maintained.
  • Acting as Data Protection Lead, supporting compliance activities and promoting good practice across the organisation.
  • Building legal awareness and capability through training, guidance and collaboration with colleagues across the business.

What we're looking for

  • A qualified solicitor with significant post-qualification experience gained in private practice and/or an in-house legal environment.
  • Strong commercial judgement with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives while providing practical, solutions-focused advice.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with experience influencing and advising senior leaders and Boards.
  • An outstanding communicator and negotiator who can build trust, influence decisions and collaborate effectively across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

If you're looking for an opportunity to make a real impact in a dynamic and ambitious organisation, we'd love to hear from you.
