Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor
Rail & Civil Engineering
Location: Cumbernauld, Scotland
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to join our Scotland business, supporting the commercial delivery of a diverse portfolio of rail and civil engineering projects across the region.
Working across both rail and non-rail civil engineering schemes, this role offers the opportunity to become involved in a wide range of infrastructure projects including bridges, structures, highways, rail enhancements, asset management programmes and multidisciplinary civil engineering works. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring robust commercial control throughout the project lifecycle, supporting operational teams to deliver projects safely, efficiently and profitably.
About the Business Unit
Our Scotland business unit delivers a broad range of infrastructure projects through long-term framework agreements and competitively tendered contracts. We work with major clients including Network Rail, local authorities, public sector organisations and private developers to deliver essential infrastructure improvements across the region.
Current programmes include rail infrastructure renewals and enhancements, bridge and structural works, civil engineering frameworks, asset management projects and environmental improvement schemes. The team operates across a multidisciplinary environment, offering an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a varied and technically challenging project portfolio.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager and working closely with operational colleagues, you will provide commercial support across a range of rail and civil engineering projects.
The role will involve managing project costs from tender stage through to final account, ensuring accurate forecasting, valuation and commercial reporting while helping to maximise project value and minimise commercial risk.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have previous Quantity Surveying experience within a civil engineering, infrastructure or rail contracting environment.
You will possess strong commercial awareness, excellent analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively with operational teams on complex infrastructure projects.
