Rochdale Boroughwide Housing is looking for an experienced and customer-focused Money Matters Caseworker to join our Tenancy Sustainability Service. In this rewarding role, you'll provide specialist welfare benefits and debt advice, helping customers maximise their income, manage financial difficulties and sustain their tenancies.

This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to people's lives by providing practical support, expert guidance and advocacy to those facing complex financial circumstances.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Money Matters Caseworker, you'll manage a varied caseload and work directly with customers to improve their financial resilience. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing specialist welfare benefits, debt and financial inclusion advice.
  • Supporting customers to maximise income and access all available benefits and entitlements.
  • Assisting with benefit claims, mandatory reconsiderations, appeals and reviews.
  • Helping customers address priority debts and establish realistic repayment arrangements.
  • Working proactively to prevent rent arrears, tenancy breakdown and homelessness.
  • Identifying and supporting vulnerable customers with tailored interventions.
  • Accessing grants and external funding to help customers with essential household needs and fuel poverty.
  • Building strong relationships with key partner organisations including local authorities, the DWP, Citizens Advice, credit unions and creditors.
  • Delivering financial inclusion initiatives, campaigns and projects that improve outcomes for customers.
  • Maintaining accurate case records and contributing to service improvement initiatives.
  • Providing advice, support and training to colleagues across the wider organisation.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking someone with a strong understanding of welfare rights, debt advice and customer support, who can confidently manage complex cases and deliver excellent outcomes.

You'll have:

  • Experience providing advice and support in welfare benefits, debt, housing or a related field.
  • A strong understanding of welfare benefits, debt and housing legislation.
  • Experience managing a demanding caseload and prioritising effectively.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to work with customers facing complex or challenging circumstances.
  • A customer-focused approach with empathy and understanding of social issues.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to use multiple systems.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.

Institute of Money Advisers CertMAP qualification is desirable.
