The role
We have an exciting role on offer within our Children’s services as a Residential Support Worker – Willow Tree.
Are you passionate about caring for children and young people living in Middlesbrough? If yes, we want to hear from you! We are seeking to recruit suitable people to work within our children’s home.
The home is in Middlesbrough and provides care for a small number of children and young people who, for a variety of reasons, cannot currently live with their families.
The successful candidates will provide a high quality of care and support, which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, behavioural, health, social and cultural needs of the children and families for whom the home provides a service. This will include working with young people who may display some behaviours which can be seen as challenging behaviour at times, complex emotional problems, mental health issues and occasionally other additional needs.

The successful candidate will be based initially in willow tree children’s home however you will have opportunity to experience all of Middlesbrough Council children’s homes and will be expected to be prepared to work and support in these homes as needed, or to work with children who are living in the community or within their own homes.
Applicants must:
Have a recognised QCF level 3 diploma in Residential care in working with children and young people or an equivalent qualification or a willingness to undertake.
Some experience of working with children and young people.
An understanding of child development and behaviours which can be viewed as challenging.
A positive attitude and the ability to work with young people.
You will also be required to work unsocial hours - including weekends, bank holidays and nights.
