The Role
Who are UK Sport?
We are the UK’s trusted high-performance experts, powering our greatest athletes, teams, sports and events to achieve positive success. Investing a combination of National Lottery and Government funds, we support our Olympic and Paralympic sports to realise their world-leading potential and help bring major sporting events to the UK. Our purpose is to lead high-performance sport to enable extraordinary moments that enrich lives.
We are on a mission – to create the greatest decade of extraordinary sporting moments; reaching, inspiring and uniting the nation. That mission is underpinned by three ambitions for UK high-performance sport; to keep winning and win well, to grow a thriving sporting system and to harness those to inspire positive change. Working with the sports and events we fund, DCMS, and our partner organisations across the UK high-performance system, we are building on 25 years of ever-growing success to write the UK’s next chapter for Olympic and Paralympic sport.
About the role:
This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of UK Sport, partnering directly with the Director of Strategy and Business Enabling.
As Executive Assistant, you’ll play a critical role in enabling the Director to operate at their best. You’ll act as a trusted business partner - managing priorities, shaping the flow of information and ensuring the right things happen at the right time.
You’ll lead on the Director’s diary, inbox and programme of activity, making smart decisions about priorities and bringing clarity to a fast‑moving environment. Alongside this, you’ll play a key role in preparing for Board and Executive Team activity, coordinating high‑quality papers and ensuring everything runs seamlessly.
This is a varied, high‑trust role where you’ll be close to decision‑making, working across the organisation and acting as a key connector - ensuring the Director is informed, supported and focused on what matters most.
This role is offered on a part-time basis (21 hours per week), with flexibility around how these hours are worked. This could suit someone looking to work during school hours or balance other commitments. The role operates on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of one day per week in the office.
Who will I be working with?
You’ll work closely with the Director of Strategy and Business Enabling, acting as their right hand and day‑to‑day partner. You’ll also collaborate with Heads of Department and colleagues across Strategy and Business Enabling, as well as teams right across UK Sport.
Externally, you may connect with Board members, senior stakeholders and partners - ensuring communication is clear, timely and professional at all times.
About you
You’re an experienced Executive Assistant (or similar) who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑profile environment.
You’re organised, calm and always one step ahead. You’re comfortable handling a wide range of tasks - from day‑to‑day coordination to supporting high‑level governance. You do it all with discretion and professionalism.
You build strong relationships quickly. You communicate clearly and confidently, and you have the judgement to know when to act, when to escalate and when to challenge.
Above all, you take pride in enabling others to succeed, and you’re motivated by being part of a team delivering meaningful impact.
What you’ll bring
It’s a bonus if you also have:
As you’ll see from the more detailed Job Description, we are looking for an exceptional candidate who will naturally look to collaborate with others. In return, we will be there with you every step of the way. Come join us and be part of the heartbeat of high-performance sport in the UK.
