Join our Sunset Walk Volunteer Team. Can you help us reach the 68 volunteers we need for this event? By providing your time you will be supporting us to bring people together to remember and celebrate loved ones, while raising vital funds to support hospice care for local families. Team roles incude:

Event Village - Roundhay Park, Princess Avenue 

You will help create a fun, welcoming, and supportive atmosphere.  

  • Assist with setting up and packing away the event village area. 
  • Help run an activity or fundraising stall, such as the tombola or craft station. 

Route Marshal - Roundhay Park, along Street Lane, Harrogate Road, Lidgett Lane and North Park Avenue. (If you live on one of these streets you could be volunteering near your doorstep!)

You will play an important role in helping to keep our participants safe and supported.

  • Assist participants in crossing the road safely at our allocated crossing points.
  • Help direct walkers along the correct route. 
  • Remain alert and aware of traffic and pedestrian activity at all times. 
  • Encourage participants and create a friendly, positive atmosphere.  

Route Marshal - St Gemma's Hospice, Harrogate Road, Moortown

You will play an important role in helping guide participants through the hospice to the reflection area.

  • Support with setting up the area and packing away the event area.
  • Welcome and guide participants through the hospice to the reflection area.
  • Assist the event team with managing the flow of participants safely and respectfully.

St Gemma’s Hospice is an independent Leeds-based charity and one of the leading hospices in the UK, providing expert care and support for local people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses. We offer care to patients, families and carers in the Hospice’s In-Patient Unit, through the St Gemma’s community team, and at our Out-Patients.

We have around 300 employees working across the main Hospice site in Moortown, Retail Hub in Bramley, a large chain of charity shops, and out in the community.
