Health And Safety Officer

Based - Homeworking with a designated office of Memorial House Coalville, Leicestershire (This role will require you to attend the office at least 2 days per month and requires travel across the East Midlands and to other emh properties)

Hours – 35 hours per week, working Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 hour for lunch each day

Salary - £36,527 - £40,585 per annum (People & Strategy RFJ 6)

 

The role 

Are you an experienced Health and Safety Officer with the drive and ambition to create safe working environments.

A great opportunity awaits you at emh, where you will be given the chance to take on a permanent role as a Health and Safety Officer working within the Corporate Services Team.  You will be rewarded with a salary of up to £40,585 per annum plus additional benefits such as a contributory pension scheme, flexible working, health cash plan, an employee assistance program, and other great benefits. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing assurance monitoring, conducting investigations and inspections; providing advice and guidance that ensures our health and safety culture supports a safe working environment for all and is compliant with our health and safety management system and ISO 45001.  

As one of a team of Health and Safety Officers, no two days will be the same for the successful candidate and key duties include:  

  • Providing competent health and safety advice across a range of services.  
  • Performing audits, inspections, and investigations.  
  • Delivering health and safety training.  
  • Preparing and presenting reports to Directors and Senior Managers.  
  • Liaising with Managers, staff representatives and external bodies.  
  • Leading on projects and initiatives etc. 

The person 

It’s a challenging role and well-suited to a dynamic, adaptable, lateral thinker that can work on their own initiative and manage their time effectively. In this role, you will need to be able to work both independently and as part of a team and be able to demonstrate excellent communication, problem-solving skills and provide competent advice. You will also need to have experience in maintaining health and safety systems, as well as holding the minimum of a NEBOSH certificate or equivalent.

Qualifications 

A NEBOSH certificate is essential, and a NEBOSH diploma is desirable for this role.
