Join us as a Digital Skills Volunteer and make a real difference. In this rewarding role, you’ll support our staff and volunteers to build confidence using everyday digital tools like Microsoft Teams, Word, and Excel, providing friendly one-to-one guidance and troubleshooting. With flexible 3 to 4 hour shifts, full training, and expenses covered, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your own skills while empowering others in a supportive hospice environment. If you’re patient, approachable, and passionate about helping people grow their digital confidence, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll provide:

  • One-to-one support for staff or volunteers, helping them build confidence using Office 365 applications.
  • In-person guidance and troubleshooting to resolve issues and answer digital skills queries.
  • A welcoming and inclusive learning environment where individuals feel comfortable asking questions and developing new skills.
  • Collaborative support alongside the Learning & Organisational Development team, using digital training to boost creativity and help colleagues work more efficiently and effectively.

Who We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
  • Communicate clearly and build strong relationships, with the ability to explain complex information in a friendly and accessible way.
  • Show patience and curiosity when supporting individuals who may be less confident with technology.
  • Bring a passion for learning and a genuine desire to help others develop their digital skills.
  • Offer experience in teaching, coaching, or mentoring. This is beneficial but not essential.

Can offer one morning or afternoon per week (a few hours still make a big difference!)

What’s in It for You?

  • The opportunity to develop and learn within a professional team
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact while developing your own skills
  • Full training to refresh or enhance your knowledge and keep everyone safe
  • Full travel expenses paid or reimbursed
  • A supportive environment where your contribution is truly valued

What You Can Expect from Us

As a volunteer, you can expect:

  • To be treated fairly and equitably in line with hospice values
  • A clear understanding of your role and responsibilities
  • Appropriate training tailored to your role
  • Ongoing support and guidance
  • The resources and equipment needed to carry out your role
  • A safe environment that respects health and safety

What We Ask in Return

We ask our volunteers to:

  • Reflect the values, goals and standards of Ashgate Hospice
  • Place patient care at the centre of everything you do
  • Follow our Health and Safety Policy, Volunteer Policy, Code of Behaviour and Volunteer Handbook
