About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to support the continued growth of our Power & Energy portfolio including Transmission & Distribution (T&D) business across the UK.

This is a key role within our work-winning team, focused on civil and building projects associated with substation infrastructure (Transmission & Distribution) and wider network expansion programmes.

You will play a pivotal role in securing major projects with key clients including SSE, SPEN, NGET, NGED, and other UK distribution network operators.


The Role

As Senior Estimator, you will lead and support pre-contract activities, from initial enquiry through to tender submission, working alongside an experienced technical lead.

You’ll be responsible for planning, developing and pricing upcoming works, ensuring submissions are technically robust, commercially competitive and strategically aligned to support continued sector growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of civil and building estimates within Power T&D projects
  • Support pre-qualification submissions (PQQs) and tender enquiries
  • Develop detailed first-principles estimates and cost plans
  • Work collaboratively with technical, commercial and operational teams
  • Engage with the supply chain to obtain accurate and competitive pricing
  • Review and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Identify risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions
  • Contribute to winning tender strategies across a national portfolio

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience as an Estimator / Senior Estimator in Power T&D or utilities infrastructure
  • Strong background in civils and building works, particularly for substation projects and associated civils infrastructure.
  • Experience working on both distribution and transmission schemes
  • Demonstrable pre-contract / tendering expertise
  • Strong commercial awareness and technical understanding

Desirable

  • Experience working with DNOs / National Grid clients (SSE, SPEN, NGET, NGED etc.)
  • Familiarity with estimating software (e.g. Causeway or similar)
  • Experience working in a contractor environment within energy infrastructure
