Salary: NJC Grade A3 £24,796 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked) 

Working Pattern: This is a part time, permanent position working 17.5 hours per week, 41 weeks per year (3.10pm - 6.40pm Monday to Friday) starting 1st September 2026.

Pilton Community College are seeking a hardworking and reliable cleaner. The successful candidate will be working in a team of other cleaners and will be line managed by the Cleaning Supervisor. They will have the responsibility for maintaining a high level of cleanliness in our buildings through daily duties. These duties will include vacuuming, sweeping, and washing floors, dusting and polishing, cleaning lavatories, and removing rubbish.

About the Role 

As a Cleaner, you will ensure that designated areas of the school are kept clean, tidy and hygienic in line with school standards.  

Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Cleaning, sweeping, mopping, washing and vacuuming,  

  • Emptying bins and maintaining toilet and washroom areas 

  • Assist in the moving of furniture and moveable fittings.  

  • Ensure that the premises are made secure if requested.  

  • Reporting any maintenance issues or stock shortages 

  • Following health & safety and COSHH guidelines 

What We’re Looking For 

We are seeking someone who: 

  • Has experience in cleaning within workplaces such as schools, hospitals or leisure centres (desirable but not essential) 

  • Is trustworthy, hardworking and takes pride in their work 

  • Works well as part of a team and shows initiative 

  • Demonstrates confidentiality and supports the ethos of the school 

  • Experience using floor-cleaning machinery or knowledge of COSHH is desirable but not required—full training will be provided.

This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
