Are you passionate about making a difference every day? Why not join our caring Catering team as a Bank Catering Assistant, where you will help make a real difference to patients, their loved ones, staff and volunteers by providing excellent service and support when it’s needed most.

This is a flexible, bank role supporting our catering service across the hospice, helping to maintain a welcoming, safe and hygienic environment for everyone we care for.


Job Details:

  • Location: St Peter & St James Hospice, BN8 4ED
  • Salary: £12.71 - £12.87 per hour (equivalent to £24,856 - £25,168 per annum, full-time equivalent)
  • Working Hours: Bank / ad‑hoc hours to cover service needs, sickness and annual leave
  • Shifts: Typically 10:30am – 4:30pm, Monday to Sunday (flexibility to cover a range of shifts is desirable)
  • Contract Type: Bank (casual)

What you’ll do:

  • Assist with basic food preparation and support meal service.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen and dining environment.
  • Complete daily cleaning tasks in line with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Provide a friendly, professional and helpful service to patients, visitors and colleagues.

What we’re looking for:

  • A reliable team player with good communication skills.
  • Previous catering experience and Food Hygiene Level 2 certification are desirable, but not essential (training can be provided).
  • A caring, flexible approach and willingness to support the team on an as‑needed basis.
