At St Peter & St James Hospice, you will play an important role in delivering a high‑quality catering service, ensuring patients, families, staff and volunteers enjoy nutritious meals in a warm and supportive environment.


Job Details:

  • Location: St Peter & St James Hospice, BN8 4ED
  • Salary: £26,496 - £27,014 per annum
  • Working Hours: Full-time and part‑time roles available
  • Shifts: 8am–4pm and 11am–7pm, Monday to Sunday (ability to work regular Wednesdays is desirable)
  • Contract Type: Permanent full-time and part-time

What you’ll be doing:

  • Cooking and preparing fresh, nutritious meals to order for patients and their loved ones, Living Well Centre attendees, visitors and staff.
  • Supporting the catering of internal events and fundraising functions.
  • Ensuring dietary requirements, preferences, and religious and cultural needs are met.
  • Maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene and customer service at all times.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous catering experience is essential. Experience in healthcare, hospice or charity settings is desirable but not required.
  •  Food hygiene certification is desirable; training can be provided if needed.
  • Good communication skills, a positive and professional approach, and the ability to work flexibly to meet patient needs. You should be organised, reliable, and comfortable working as part of a supportive team.
  • Due to the hospice’s remote location and limited public transport links, candidates must be able to travel to and from the hospice independently.
