We have an exciting role on offer within our Children’s Services as a Casual Residential Support Worker.

Young people in Middlesbrough are looking for compassionate, dedicated individuals to join our team as Casual Residential Support Workers.

In this rewarding role, you’ll support young people with a wide range of needs helping them feel safe, valued, and empowering to thrive. From building confidence and independence to supporting emotional wellbeing (and sometimes joining in imaginative adventures!), you’ll play a key role in shaping positive futures.

We offer a range of opportunities across the city, including full-time, part-time and sleeping in duties and occasionally waking night shifts.

About You

We’re looking for people who:

  • Are educated to GCSE level (or equivalent).
  • Have recent experience supporting young people.
  • Can build positive, professional relationships.
  • Communicate well and have basic IT skills.
  • Are flexible and creative in their approach to shift work.

About the Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you’ll:

  • Create a safe, caring and nurturing environment.
  • Support young people’s emotional, physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Encourage personal development, education and independence.
  • Build strong, positive relationships.
  • Engage in daily activities, outings and hobbies.
  • Support with personal care or specialist equipment where needed.
  • Contribute to household tasks and maintain accurate records.

Full training and ongoing support are provided to help you succeed.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience (paid or voluntary) working with young people within the last year.
  • Ability to assess individual needs and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts as needed.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and basic knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and ongoing training.
