The vacancy
We are looking for friendly, reliable and community‑minded volunteers to help raise vital funds for Ashgate Hospice by representing the hospice at public collections in supermarkets, sports matches, community venues and events.
This is an essential outward‑facing role, helping us build strong relationships within the community while raising funds that directly support patients and families across North Derbyshire.
Department: Community Fundraising Location: Various community venues across North Derbyshire
Time Commitment:
Flexible, ad hoc volunteering to suit your availability.
Typical collection shifts last 2–4 hours.
Opportunities available on weekdays and weekends throughout the year, with 3-4 collections per month available
Volunteers can sign up for as many or as few collections as they wish.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Public Collections Volunteer, you’ll play a key part in supporting our fundraising efforts by:
Your support helps ensure our hospice can continue providing compassionate care to those who need it.
Attend organised public collection events at agreed dates and locations.
Set up and manage a designated collection point (materials provided).
Engage positively and respectfully with members of the public.
Share basic information about Ashgate Hospice and its services (briefing provided).
Safely handle and return collection buckets in line with procedures.
Act as an ambassador for the hospice, whilst reflecting its values.

Volunteers must be aged 16–75 (insurance requirement)
All volunteers must attend:
Voluntary Statutory Training (3 hours)

Access to transport is required for this community‑based role
