A fantastic opportunity to join Chesterfield College at an exciting time of growth and innovation.

As we launch our new STEPS 2 provision, we are looking for an inspirational and committed Curriculum Manager for Transition Programmes to lead this expanding area. This is a unique and rewarding role, focused on transforming the lives of young people who may have experienced disadvantage, disruption, or barriers to learning.

About the Role

The post holder will lead a portfolio of programmes designed to support students at the earliest stages of engagement, including:

  • STEPS – Tailored roll on roll off programmes supporting students who are NEET or at risk of becoming NEET
  • STEPS 2 vocational pathways – tailored, practical provision supporting learners who may be disadvantaged or facing multiple challenges where a traditional study programme may not be suitable.
  • 14-16 transition programmes – full short programmes available for school pupils
  • Pathways provision – programmes for students with SEND and complex needs, ensuring they receive high‑quality, personalised education that promotes independence and progression.
  • ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) provision – enabling learners to gain language skills, build confidence, and access future pathways.

You will be responsible for driving curriculum quality, supporting staff development, ensuring strong progress for learners, and creating a curriculum that is flexible, innovative and genuinely life‑changing.

About You

We are looking for someone with strong experience leading programmes for disadvantaged, high‑needs and hard‑to‑reach learners, who is creative and innovative in curriculum design, understands further education and transition pathways, is committed to high aspirations for every learner, and is an excellent communicator who can lead and inspire teams. A teaching qualification is desirable, but most importantly, you must be genuinely passionate about improving life chances for young people.

Why Join Us?

This is an exceptional time to join Chesterfield College. With the introduction of STEPS 2 and continued expansion of our transition and pathways provision, you will have the opportunity to shape something truly impactful, innovative, and sector‑leading.
