Business Development Manager (ABL)

Aldermore Group – why we exist

Let us tell you a bit about us

We’re Aldermore – the award-winning bank, trusted by over a quarter of a million customers. With specialist mortgages, savings and business finance solutions, we’re backing more people to go for it.

We champion entrepreneurial spirit, support first‑time buyers, open up the lending market, and power thousands of vehicle purchases through MotoNovo Finance every week.

This is where you come in. We’re on a journey to deliver on our purpose — backing more people to go for it, in life and business.

Let us tell you a bit about the opportunity

We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to help grow our Asset Based Lending (ABL) offering, working with businesses across the UK who need flexible working capital solutions. This is an exciting role right at the heart of driving growth in the SME market.

You won’t just be managing accounts — you’ll be originating and shaping complex, high‑value ABL transactions (£0.5m–£50m), building long‑term introducer partnerships, and representing Aldermore in a competitive marketplace. With real autonomy in a field‑based role and exposure to senior stakeholders, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a visible impact in a specialist lending environment.

What will your day look like?

You’ll be:

  • Originating new ABL opportunities and delivering new business volumes in line with our growth plans.
  • Building and maintaining high‑quality relationships with introducers including corporate finance advisers, accountants, brokers and other professionals.
  • Managing the full sales process end-to-end, from initial enquiry through to onboarding.
  • Preparing clear, accurate credit submissions to support efficient underwriting and approvals.
  • Staying close to the ABL market — understanding competitor offerings, pricing, trends and risks.
  • Working collaboratively with teams across Risk, Operations and Relationship Management to ensure great customer and introducer experiences.
  • Upholding conduct standards, TCF requirements and FCA expectations relevant to the role.

What do we expect from you?

We’re looking for someone who can bring:

  • A proven track record in originating ABL transactions within the £0.5m–£50m range.
  • An established network of introducers across corporate finance, accounting and broker communities.
  • Strong understanding of ABL structures (receivables, inventory, plant & machinery, property).
  • Confident financial analysis skills, able to interpret accounts and forecasts.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • Organisational skills to manage a busy pipeline and deliver at pace.

What can you expect from us?

  • A friendly and flexible culture, the same as how we work with our customers
  • A growing organisation that means there’s lots of opportunities to progress
  • A drive for continuous improvement, which you will be empowered to get behind from day one
  • And of course, you will be rewarded competitively, with a good range of core benefits and bonus potential

Still curious?

Join us and we’ll make the same promises to you as we do to our customers. We’re committed to an environment that values respect, diversity and compassion. We welcome people from all backgrounds, identities and experiences.

Please note: we have a thorough referencing process, which includes criminal record checks.

We champion equality by supporting the exceptions to the rule and getting finance to where it’s needed.

We lend the money people save with us, to people who want to get on in life; build businesses and create employment, buy property for people to live and work in, and purchase vehicles to move families and goods around.

Our behavioural framework underpins our purpose and strategic drivers, as it outlines the behaviours we need to demonstrate in order to succeed. Where our strategic drivers (Stay Ahead Propositions, Relationships That Last and Progressive Platform) outline what we need to do to succeed, our behaviours guide us in how. In your second interview, we’ll ask you to talk through some examples where you’ve demonstrated these behaviours in your previous roles.

As you would expect, we offer a competitive basic salary and reward package, and you’ll also benefit from our commitment to investing in your professional development throughout your journey with us.

Benefits vary across the business depending on the role you do, but these will give you an idea of what to expect:

  • Discretionary bonus scheme
  • Aviva Digital GP
  • Bus And Tram Benefit
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Eyecare Voucher & Display Screens/Desk Set-Up
