We have an exciting role on offer within our Highways Infrastructure and Fleet service as a Roadworker 2.

About Us

We are currently seeking to appoint a Roadworker 2 within Highways to support the Service Managers in the provision of responsive and planned highway maintenance works and other highway functions for the effective and efficient delivery of the service.

The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of the team to deliver a high standard of service and demonstrate the ability to carry out all aspects of repairs and or replacement both in reactive works and planned schemes on the highway.

Duties and responsibilities include: To be able to work to precise levels, specification, and show good workmanship in construction related tasks. This will include, but not be exclusive to, setting out, drain laying, trench timbering, manhole construction, reinforced concrete, laying precast concrete products, laying of tarmac, gulley cleansing and graffiti removal.

As part of our team you will also be involved in working on highway furniture and equipment which will include the erection and removal of appropriate signs and barriers, fixing and/or dismantling various products found on the highway. You will be required to comply with general Health & Safety policies and ensure the safety of the workforce and the public.

You will be required to have or be willing to work towards gaining qualifications that will allow you to operate specialist vehicles and/or equipment. This may include, for example HGV class 2, Lorry Loader/HIAB, JCB, 360 excavators, bobcat, ride on roller, dumper, gulley tanker, this list is not exhaustive. You will also be required to conduct appropriate vehicle checks. This work may involve a high level of intervention in inclement and adverse weather conditions.

You must also be willing to undertake relevant training that is deemed necessary to meet the duties and responsibilities of the post. A full current UK driving licence is essential for this role.
