Overview

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our Southern Region commercial team. You will play a key role in supporting increased workloads across the South East, delivering multiple projects and taking responsibility for tender support, subcontract management, internal reporting, and client liaison across a portfolio of rail, building, and civils schemes.

 

About the Business Unit

Our business unit is fast‑paced and diverse, delivering a wide range of civil engineering projects across sectors including rail (bridges, embankments, stations, platforms, tunnels), the Environment Agency, and Local Authorities. We work on both standalone tendered projects and long‑term framework agreements with key clients, delivering multi‑disciplinary civils and rail‑associated building works throughout the South East.

Current frameworks and contracts include rail infrastructure for train operating companies, aviation civils infrastructure, and Environment Agency programmes. Typical works include bridge reconstruction and replacement, upgrades and refurbishments, station enhancements (including accessibility improvements), and structural works such as tunnels and footbridges.

 

The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor within the Southern Commercial team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers in the commercial management of multiple sites, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
  • Preparing and submitting accurate estimates
  • Resolving pricing queries with clients
  • Managing client relationships
  • Working with Site Managers to gather daily project information
  • Managing subcontractors
  • Overseeing change management and early warnings
  • Administering contracts (NEC/NR forms)
  • Preparing CVRs
  • Managing final accounts

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a civils infrastructure project contracting environment.
  • A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
  • Experience in civil engineering projects (e.g., rail, bridges, roads, structures)
  • Strong understanding of NEC or bespoke NR forms of contract
