About the role:

This post will work alongside the Events Fundraisers and Events and Community Fundraising Manager to help deliver Ashgate’s varied and excited portfolio of events, including Chesterfield's biggest fundraising event the Sparkle Night Walk. This post will support in the planning and coordination of Hospice events and will support individuals taking on third-party events and challenges.

A positive, friendly and highly organised individual, the Events Assistant will often be the first face to greet visitors to the Hasland Fundraising Centre, the person responding to email queries or the first voice that they hear on the phone. As such, they will be expected to embody our organisational values at all times.

The Events Assistant will be instrumental to supporter’s journeys, offering regular communication and encouraging them to reach their fundraising goal. They will celebrate supporter's successes by thanking and helping them to understand the difference they have made.

Key responsibilities:

  • To assist with the planning of Ashgate’s events portfolio and taking a lead role in the  delivery of each event
  • To support the Event Fundraisers acting as their deputy for Hospice organised events
  • To build and maintain relationships with our fundraising event participants, to ensure supporters receive an excellent supporter journey and experience of the hospice, from registration to thanking
  • Lead on a range of administrative tasks for the Events Team
  • Deliver high quality supporter care for our fundraisers and build relationships throughout the North Derbyshire community
  • Promote the full range of fundraising initiatives, events and appeals and contribute to all fundraising income streams, i.e Community Fundraising, the Lottery and Corporate Fundraising

  • Confidence to effectively communicate with a wide range of people 
  • Highly organised with the ability to plan and prioritise workload
  • Experience of using a database to manage relationships through accurate record keeping
  • Flexible approach to working outside of normal working hours (Time in lieu is granted)

Ashgate Hospice, based in North Derbyshire, offers free palliative and end of life care for adults with life-limiting or incurable illnesses, including cancer, neurological diseases, and advanced heart, kidney, and lung conditions. Last year, we cared for over 2,400 people. Our aim is to support our patients by keeping them informed, managing their symptoms, and improving their quality of life from diagnosis onwards.
