Engineering Shift

This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

 

The Engineering Shift will provide support to the Shift Lead and through them safely deliver a service of excellent value, ensuring that everything works when it needs to and experiences minimal downtime.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • To proactively support the Shift Lead and provide technical authority and training whilst ensuring a high standard of work.
  • Deputising for the Shift lead during absences is expected.
  • Assisting the shift lead in the co-ordination of contractors in resect of reactive, pre planned maintenance and ad hoc works.
  • Ensure shift based personnel and contractors undertake works in accordance with safe working practices, quality standards and conform to best practice methods.
  • Carry out routine and essential planned preventative maintenance tasks as required across LV distribution systems, associated plant and equipment and HVAC mechanical cooling and heating systems as determined by the Concept systems work orders, in a safe, efficient and effective manner. Carry out isolation of plant and systems in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Investigate faults, identify root causes of faults and prepare accurate and timely reports on plant and equipment failures and communicate findings with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the building layout, function and complexities through developed practices through continuous assessment, staff training and personal development.
  • To assist with various ad hoc duties as reasonably required from time to time.
  • Pay due care and attention to health and safety procedures and recommendations both on and off site to ensure the safety of yourself, your team and others.
  • Ensure health and safety legislative requirements are met such as DSE assessment and health & safety awareness and ensure your shift are adequately trained for the tasks they carry out.
  • Shall not undertake any tasks or functions that will endanger self or others and shall ensure that any unsafe acts that are witnessed are challenged immediately.
  • Ensure any hazards or unsafe acts are reported through the Accident and Safety reporting scheme and to the relevant managers.
  • To undertake any training required as relevant to job role,
  • Site Governance responsibilities outside of operational hours – ensuring, where possible, that contractors comply with the airports requirements and standards and that works are done in a way that does not pose a risk to our asset or operation.
  • Ensure you follow the Concept process and provide all relevant and correct data for each job/task as required by Concept.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement within your shift.
  • Work in partnership with other shifts so as to achieve a consistent and efficient operational output.
  • Not to undertake any tasks or functions that will compromise the security of self, others or the organisation and to ensure that any acts that are witnessed that appear to breach security procedures are challenged immediately.

Liaise with:

  • Head of Contracts Contractor or 3rd party maintenance issues/updates.
  • Head of Asset Integration:
  • Technical – mechanical/electrical authority and steer Input on future asset design Input on current asset optimisation Updates on new asset integration
  • Head of Works governance and Project delivery.
  • Visibility of contractors on site
  • Projects / works handover

Performance Measures:

  • PPMs are delivered to schedule with 100% completion of statutory and mandatory tasks completed on time.
  • Health and safety reactives are made safe within 4 hours and fully remediated as soon as possible thereafter.
  • No audit non compliances for Concept data and hard copy reports.

 

Key Competencies:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Building Services Engineering and excellent technical (HVAC and critical engineering plant and systems)
  • Experience with operating in critical facilities or environments.

 

Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • City & Guilds, BTEC or NVQ 3 in Engineering related subject
  • General education to ‘O’ level, GCSE level standard

Working Hours and Conditions:

  • Shift work as dictated by the engineering shift rota.
  • Flexibility in hours worked is required 1 hour paid lunch break per shift is included and must be taken at a time suitable to the operation.
  • On occasion, you will be required to work outside of the stated hours and days.
