We are looking for a Finance Administrator to join our highly performing and supportive Finance Team on a temporary, fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of our Hospice finances while supporting a charity in its vital mission.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will play a key part in delivering accurate and efficient accounting processes, including income and expenditure, sales ledger, month-end support, and purchase ledger. You will also be responsible for reconciling and banking cash, working closely with colleagues across the Hospice to ensure timely and accurate financial transactions.

The role requires excellent attention to detail, good organisational skills, and a proactive, can-do attitude

.Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Finance team with accurate and timely accounting for income and expenditure in Sage 200
  • Assisting in month end processes including journal entry
  • Raising sales invoices and performing credit control tasks
  • Counting, reconciling and banking cash
  • Processing purchase invoices and supporting supplier payments

What you’ll bring:

You should have at least one year’s experience working in an administration or finance environment.  Alternatively you may studying towards or hold an AAT qualification, or have completed a Business Studies qualification.

You will be confident in processing financial transactions and using IT systems, with good numeracy skills and a clear understanding of accounting processes. Most importantly, you’ll be a team player who is organised, adaptable, proactive and eager to support colleagues. Above all, you will possess the personal attributes we seek and feel a strong affinity with our values of compassion, teamwork, respect and being open and inclusive.

Skills and experience required:

  • Confident with using MS Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams
  • Good personal organisation skills and ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to work accurately to deadlines
  • Good numeracy skills with competence in financial processing.

Ashgate Hospice, based in North Derbyshire, offers free palliative and end of life care for adults with life-limiting or incurable illnesses, including cancer, neurological diseases, and advanced heart, kidney, and lung conditions.
